  1. Most Comfortable OC Review by BonusWagner

Get's the job without eating my face. I've removed over a weeks growth in one pass with this razor. I don't see the sticking point against pot metal. In my early days of wet-shaving I dropped this razor two good times (once, I jumped onto the counter because I thought it was going to land on my toes) and haven't even seen a dent. I use it when I want comfort and I will probably pass it on to my future children, or a nephew. whichever comes first. (Posted on 8/12/2016)

If you want a classic razor, you have to try this Merkur model. Even with my thick, coarse hair, it slides through my beard effortlessly, thanks to the open tooth comb shaving head. A few days’ growth is absolutely no problem either. The chrome finish looks really cool in my bathroom too!

  3. Great design Review by William

This razor has that old fashioned feel many new wet shavers are looking for but as stated by others before me you need to respect this razor and learn to use it before you will be able to get the perfect shave. The open comb design is great for knocking down a few days worth of growth but this razor tends to be a bit more aggressive than the 34c which may be a better choice for a new west shaver. This razor will give an incredibly close shave, but beware! if you're unattentive, sleepy, or in a hurry, you'll certainly get eaten alive. If you can respect the razor and all its glory though, you'll be rewarded with a shave you never thought possible! (Posted on 8/11/2014)

  5. Open for business Review by Jason

While most of the razors on this site have the closed comb design, open combs like the 1904 were the original safety razors. I like to use mine for mowing down several days worth of stubble or when I'm removing a full beard. The OC design tends to clog less and really lets you get after the facial hair you now want gone. Truly an efficient beast once you get your technique down, so not really great for a beginner. (Posted on 6/30/2014)

  6. Great Open Comb! Review by Ron

The 1904 is a great open comb razor. Modelled after the Gillete 1904 OC, it's a classic design that's often imitated. Open comb razors have a reputation for being aggressive, but this razor is perfect. Still mild, but it gets the job done. This is a good choice for when you've got 2-3 day growth and don't want to have to fight that beard. Small, but not too light. Good for a long camping trip when you want to knock the beard back every so often, not every day. (Posted on 6/18/2014)

  7. good shaver flawed razor Review by Freddy

This is perhaps the most comfortable DE I've ever used. It is very mild but cuts my tough wiry beard with absolute ease. The finish is not to be expected as flawless- unlike an Edwin Jagger. Furthermore I detract from the quality and value of this razor because like almost all modern razors this razor is made from pot metal which can easily break if dropped. (Posted on 6/10/2014)

Awesome little razor, very mild in my opinion. Great razor to take when you are traveling.
