  1. That smell....its BAD Review by Gabriel

This cream did get higher marks for quality than the others. It performed about the same, though a little slicker, and honestly left my face feeling much more hydrated. I did not even have to use a balm after like I normally do! Now on the bad note, The smell is terrible. Its not really like an avocado, but more like fresh cut grass, or a strong smelling plant of some sort. Very green. (Posted on 11/20/2014)

A very interesteing scent. Nice, smooth and pillowy, leaves my face feeling great! The scent is hard to describe. I was afraid it would be like rubbing an avacado on my face, but its far from it! Great stuff here (Posted on 11/8/2014)

The performance of this cream is up there with the best, but the scent is a whole other issue. It just doesn't smell good. Plain and simple. Luckily, it doesn't last long at all and is easily masked AFTER the shave. But it is pretty nauseating during the shave and just doesn't go away for a bit. With TOBS having so many other options, I'd get a different scent unless you just love avocado! (Posted on 10/24/2014)

  4. Perfect for summer Review by Neil

This is the best TOBS cream for those hot summer months. The avocado scent is just perfect for all that humidity as it is a very slick and moisturizing cream. The scent isn't quite that amazing. I'm personally not an avocado fan when it comes to the real thing, so take that with a grain of salt. But the lather, protection, slickness, and after the shave feel is top notch and no other TOBS cream, or any other cream in this price point, comes close! You won't be disappointed! I got five shaves from a sample of this cream! It takes very little to whip up some great lather. The scent is kind of warm and familiar, but not like guacamole. It is great for your skin, too. (Posted on 8/4/2014)

  6. You have to try it...seriously Review by JR

Bottomline, TOBS makes a great shave cream. Whether you prefer to face lather or use a bowl or scuttle, this stuff pretty much lathers itself if its within a foot of a shaving brush. Now lets talk about the scent. Don't expect an avocado smell. It is more of a unisex scent with a hint of rose. You will be missing out if you don't at least try this cream. The worst that can happen is that you pretend that you bought it for that special female in your life. It's a win-win scenario...now add to cart. (Posted on 7/22/2014)

The "avocado" in the name only refers to the avocado oil in the product, which is good, because I'm not sure I would want to smell like guacamole first thing in the morning. The scent is a very sweet floral, almost perfume like. Typical TOBS performance, and one of the main reasons I fell in love with TOBS products. (Posted on 6/27/2014)

I like TOBS creams, they're always quality and well crafted. For some reason, the Avocado doesn't do it for me. Maybe it's the smell, or maybe it's the avocado oil they use to make this. It's still slick, it's still decent, but it's not the same TOBS that I'm used to. You may like it, and I suggest anyone curious try it out, just be prepared. (Posted on 6/18/2014)

  10. Great lather. Scent not so much Review by Brian

This TOBS creams lather just and easily and efficiently as any of their other offerings. What sets this product apart (for me at least) is it moisturizing properties, leaves your face feeling great after the shave. I just can't get past the scent. To my nose it smells like a very artificial attempt to clone avocado, but as long as you don't mind the scent it makes for a great cream. (Posted on 6/9/2014)

  12. Avocado Oil is the real star Review by Mitchell

I was recently gifted this cream by a friend.

It really doesn't smell like avocado to me, but it definitely has a light fresh scent that is pleasant. I still enjoy the sandalwood and a few other scents more, but it's nice.

The big difference with this cream versus the other TOBS creams is the inclusion of avocado oil, which is reason why some people say this cream performs better than the rest of the TOBS line.

I'm inclined to agree. It's lather is a little creamier, but not much different.

The big difference comes in post-shave skin feel. The extra oil makes my skin much softer and prevents it from feeling dry.

I think if you don't have any post-shave balms or moisturizers, or are a big fan of using alcohol splashes, this would be a great cream.

Another option might be Mitchell's Wool Fat for the lanolin. (Posted on 6/6/2014)

  13. A great shaving cream, but don't be fooled by the name Review by Brian

Like other Taylor of Old Bond Street creams, this cream performs wonderfully. In fact, the inclusion of avocado oil in this cream (to me) makes it seem like it provides a little extra slickness not found in other creams.

Don't be fooled by the name. This cream doesn't smell like guacamole. It certainly has notes of avocado, but it's more of a earthy, slightly floral scent. It reminds me of spring time and freshly cut grass. It's a very unique scent and I have yet to come across another product that smells similar.

A very nice cream and great value as always. (Posted on 6/3/2014)

I'd heard a lot of praise for TOBS, particularly for Avocado, so I was a bit disappointed when I tried it. I found the lather to be serviceable, but a notch below the cheaper Proraso in performance. The scent... I don't know, I don't get any avocado notes, and it strikes me as perhaps a bit feminine. Not for me. (Posted on 5/31/2014)

  15. Avocado smell absent, but TOBS quality present Review by Jason Spiegelman

I got a tub of TOBS avocado shortly after I started wetshaving. It was my third TOBS product, and I was very excited to get it because I love avocado (flavor and scent). I was disappointed in the scent of the TOBS avocado and PIFd it away after just two uses. The lather was up to TOBS standards, but the scent had no avocado in it at all. It was some sort or strange bitter scent that I really cannot describe. The TOBS Grapefruit is a much more "pure" scent, where you know what you will smell based on the name of the product. GOOD shave, but problematic scent. Good shaves, all! (Posted on 5/22/2014)

  16. Great Performance - Meh Scent Review by Josh

This cream is a great performer as are all of the TOBS creams that I have tried. Very cushioning lather that is easy to generate. Scent is a big part of the wet shaving experience for me and Avocado is not a scent that really does it for me. It is subtle and mild and inoffensive, but I would much rather shave with something that smells more strongly. (Posted on 5/20/2014)

  17. Unique Cream Review by Aaron

TOBS Avocado continues in their strong product line with their avocado offering. I found it provided some moisturizing properties to the face, probably given the natural oils present in the avocado.

The scent is interesting, definitely avocado but also some notes I couldn't put my finger on. Still, a good scent and mild enough not to be overpowering.

The only issue I had was that compared to other creams I found myself using slightly more to get the same amount of lather. Not a huge issue but at this price point it does impact the value. (Posted on 5/16/2014)
