  1. Great razor, great price Review by Jonny

This was my first razor and it's still going strong. Superb quality with no blemishes in the razor and Edwin Jagger has some fantastic Customer Service from what I've heard. This should last you a long time and is a standard among the shaving community. It may not survive a drop from a 2 story building like a stainless steel razor would but you wouldn't survive that either so who are you to criticise ;) It's a super good price for beginners and I would highly recommend it. This is an awesome razor for beginners. Its a really mild and smooth shave, yet you will still get incredibly close shaves. The money you'll save shaving with a DE will shock you! (Posted on 8/11/2014)

  3. Very well made DE razor Review by Kevin

I have been DE shaving for about a year now, but had been using vintage razors (mostly Gillettes). I love those vintage razors, but was curious about the new crop of razors. I read a lot of reviews and decided to go for the EJ 89bl. It is an excellent blend of value and quality. I was amazed at how well it is put together and how solid and heavy it feels in my hand. The chrome finish is phenomenal. Some complain about the handle being slick since it is smooth chrome, but I have not experienced that problem. I like the weight of it and use it to let the razor do the shaving rather than me pressing hard. I had been using Feather blades in my vintage razors, and continued to use them in this EJ and it has been an excellent combination. I am getting better shaves with this razor. You can't go wrong buying this or the newer version with the handle that has more grip. (Posted on 7/31/2014)

  4. Excellent for beginner and veteran shavers Review by Christopher

The EJ Razors are often labeled as 'beginners razors' but I don't think it's a fair label. While they are truly excellent for beginners they work great for seasoned veteran shavers as well. The fit and finish on these razors is always excellent and I always get a close and comfortable shave when I use them. I think EJ razors are great razors for shavers of all levels of experience. 5. Great for beginners as well as experienced shavers Review by Richard

This was my very first wetshaving razor for about a year ago (the EJ DE89L).
When it arrived I was very impressed by the quality and plating of the item - it really was close to a piece of art for me.
That it also shaved well was obviously equally important.

I ended up having a small issue with the plating on the base plate. Contacted Edwin Jaggers that promptly sent me a replacement part.
I couldn't be happier with the razor - but also what turned out to be some great customer service! (Posted on 7/4/2014)

  6. Great Razor Review by Jason

EJ razors are recommended to beginners for a reason: it's hard to get a bad shave from them. Heck, I recommend them to anyone. I would place the EJ razors above the Merkur 33c for any beginner because it seems to be better balanced and has a slightly small blade gap. Overall, just a great razor and at a nice price, too. This is the razor I always recommend for those taking the plunge into safety razors. It is a very mild razor, with perfect balance and feel in your hand. The chrome finish is as shiny as they come, it is a beautiful razor that will give you years of shaving perfection (Posted on 6/11/2014)

This was my first double edge safety razor and it is still used in a rotation with other razors. When you hold it in your hand you can tell that it is high quality. It was my daily shaver for quite awhile and it never disappointed me. It's what I would consider a mild razor but it gives a great shave. (Posted on 6/10/2014)

  9. Fantastic razor Review by Christian

This razor is great! It's excellent for a beginner, and can give me a very smooth shave. I prefer my Merkur Long-Handle simply due to the fact that this has a relatively small handle. Other than that, it's a nice razor; not too mild, not too aggressive. As with everything, YMMV. (Posted on 6/3/2014)
