This is my daily brush. Whips up lather in a heartbeat and has decent backbone, but gives just enough (Posted on 11/8/2014)

This brush is basically one of the best Boar brushes that money can buy and you don't even need a lot of money. As this is a boar brush, they don't smell very pleasant for the first couple of shaves. (A bit like wet dog). All you need to do is use it as usual and the smell will be gone in a few days. Also remember with Boar brushes to leave the brush soaking in warm-hot water before using it as this will soften the bristles and give you a thicker and quicker lather. Other than that, this brush is an amazing price and very good quality, I would highly recommend it to a beginner looking for a cheap brush. (Posted on 9/18/2014)

This is my go to boar brush. The handle and quality is amazing and for this price?! I ordered this brush because I had always wanted to try a boar brush. They might be pretty harsh at first, but oh boy, it gets as soft as my silvertips over time! (Posted on 8/11/2014)

The Omega 48 and 49 brushes are HUGE but they actually work quite well. Once you learn to manage the long loft they are capable of producing great lathers both on the face or in the bowl. If you're on a tight budget this is definitely a brush to consider if you're looking for a larger brush. (Posted on 7/21/2014)

I just got this brush and used it for the first time today. Before I used it, I followed someone's instructions to just get things moving along- soaked it in warm water for about 5 minutes, then added a drop of shampoo and rinsed it around for about 2 minutes or so. Rinsed it and dried it best I could. Next day, I tried it out and it sure did lather well in the bowl. Got the lather on the face, and I expected it to be a little rough- but surprisingly, it was soft going on. It is a big brush, but it works really well and if this what it's like when it's not broken in, wow, it's gonna just improve with age. What an excellent brush and I highly recommend it! Omega boar brushes are top notch quality for not a lot of coin. Boar brushes typically range in price from about $10 - $40, but this brush is one of the best. Once it's broken in and the tips have split, it will be on par with the softest of badger brushes while still maintaining a lot of backbone. My wife loves hers and I love mine, too. Be aware that this is a BIG brush! (Posted on 6/27/2014)

Omega Boar brushes are a great value and have a nice, long bristle with a stiff backbone. While this brush works well for creams, it really shines when it comes to lathing a soap. (Posted on 6/16/2014)

Too big. I would suggest looking at Omega's other smaller brushes. Omega boar brushes are excellent for beginners and experienced shavers alike. Once broken in they are softer than a pure badger brush and pick up hard soap more easily due to their good backbone. Handle is cheap hollow plastic but Omega has other brushes made of wood or solid acrylic. (Posted on 6/10/2014)

This thing is huge. I've since found out that I prefer a smaller knot since I face lather. This brush is a great, inexpensive into into shaving brushes though. I find the Omega boar knots much better than any other brand. They are more dense and offer much more backbone. You can't go wrong with this brush. But remember, it's a monster! If you're looking for an inexpensive, quality boar brush look no further. Omega's boar knots are top notch and only get better with use. After a month or so of regular use the ends of the hairs split and this brush gets significantly softer. (Posted on 6/9/2014)

I currently have this brush, i bought it with my first kit and it has worked great. it took a week or so to break in, about 4 shaves. the first 2 weeks i had it i left soap in it. i heard it helps split the ends. The brush got better with time and puts on a fantastic lather. highly recommended for the price. (Posted on 6/5/2014)

  12. For the price, it's practically unbeatable. Review by Christian

Simply put, I love this brush. It breaks in at a reasonable rate, produces a quality lather, and feels super soft when it's finally broken in. As with all boar brushes, it did prick a bit, but like others here have said, it's normal and waiting it out will definitely be worth the wait. I'll probably get some of these as gifts further down the road! (Posted on 6/3/2014)

  13. Great value Review by Chuck

This brush is really all you need. It's a classic and with good reason: a huge, high quality boar knot and a super-low price. Most wouldn't face lather with such a big brush, but I do and it's a bit sloppy but works great.

Are there some cons? Sure. As good as the knot is, as big boars go I prefer a more dense Semogue, like the 2000, but that is really a personal preference thing. The real con is the handle: it's very light, the chromed plastic is pretty cheap looking and it's in general a bit too big for my taste.

But at the price it goes for, it can't be beat. (Posted on 5/30/2014)

  14. GREAT brush, GREAT value Review by Aaron

Highly recommended as a first brush as it was mine. As previous reviews have said this brush hits the sweet spot of rigidity in the bristles and softness in the tips. It did take a bit to break in, I recommend soaking it while you shower for the first months to let the bristles break in and the ends to split.

You will lose a few bristles early on but don't worry this is normal. Down the road the brush only gets better, makes a great lather (bowl or face) and holds enough soap for me to do 3 passes with some left over. (Posted on 5/16/2014)
